Improving the lives of older people
and their carers by transforming the
communities in which they live and work"

Workshops & Courses

The Eden Alternative, although a simplistic philosophy, is a comprehensive approach which has to be applied and lived by all parties involved, to ensure the quality of life of residents and employees are improved. For this reason we suggest that employees on all levels as well as families must be informed and encouraged to actively engage in their role as part of this culture change process. The ideal path to implement the Eden Alternative is the following:

1. The Eden Alternative – An Introduction is presented to the management, board and families.
2. The core leadership team of employees attend Eden Alternative Associate training and become Eden Associates.
3. The rest of the employees (carers, cleaners, kitchen staff etc.) attend Care Partners: Putting Person-Centred Values into Practice,
4. Further training courses like GROWTH, Building Strong Care Partner Teams, Leadership Pathway etc. can be beneficial especially should the organisation consider applying to the Eden Alternative Registry.

DOMAINS OF WELL-BEING

One day course

Well-being is a much larger idea than either quality of life or customer satisfaction. It is based on a holistic understanding of human needs and capacities. Well-being is elusive, highly subjective, and the most valuable of all human possessions.” Dr William Thomas, “What are Older People for?”

The ultimate goal of culture change is well-being for all. The Eden Alternative identified seven primary Domains of Well-Being: Identity, Growth, Autonomy, Security, Meaning, Connectedness and Joy.

Join in an experiential workshop discovering the power of shifting your focus to strengths, possibilities, dreams and goals.

Participants will:

  • Understand the value of integrating the domains of well-being in everyday life;
  • Understand how the Eden Principles and Domains of Well-being are interwoven;
  • Be given the tools to change the perceptions of “difficult behaviour”.

This course is for registered Eden Associates only.

In-house training is available. Minimum of 15 participants required. Please contact us for details.
